No discounts are now being offered either, which means you will need to pay Rs.4,499 for the Echo Dot, Rs.9,999 for Echo, and Rs.14,999 for the Echo Plus smart speaker. If you've got an Echo set up in your living room and another one in your office, you can say, "Alexa, drop in on the office" from your living room and broadcast a message.

Starting today, you can purchase any of the Amazon smart speakers or devices across online and offline channels without the need for an invite. The Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Plus speakers were initially available only via invitation with a 30 percent discount and 1 free year of Amazon Prime membership worth Rs.999. Echo devices, in simple terms, are voice-controlled speakers and are basically designed around the user's voice. The feature dubbed Drop-In makes it possible to make calls, send voice and text messages to Echo devices of your family and friends.

The feature, called 'Your Voice, ' can be set up by saying the following phrase to Amazon's voice-activated assistant, "Alexa, who am I?" To do this, users need to have supported-Echo devices or the free Alexa app on their Android or iOS mobile phones.

You will also use Alexa conversations to contact other Echo devices in your home as an intercom as a part of the Drop in feature. Amazon had recently announced that the Alexa skills library has crossed the 12,000 number, including PM Modi's popular Mann Ki Baat programme. It will ask who you are, and if the Echo device is registered under your account, your profile should be listed there. Gururaj also added, "We are excited to make Alexa and our Echo devices available for all customers, and we can't wait to hear about their experiences". Customers can purchase the smart speakers from Amazon online store, Amazon kiosks in Bangalore and Mumbai and 350 retail outlets such as - Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Crossword and more in 20 cities across the country. "Since Alexa runs in the cloud, she is always getting smarter - the Alexa experience in India continues to evolve with new features, even better speech recognition, new localized skills, expanded music selection, and more".
