The Uruguayan then netted his league-best 20th goal of the season by heading in a right-wing cross from Di Maria, pulling level with the record Ibrahimovic set across four seasons in the French capital.

Cavani became the Parisians's joint all-time leading scorer as the Ligue 1 leaders moved 11 points clear after thrashing Dijon at the Parc des Princes.

You have to score a pretty goal to be the centre of attention when someone equals your teams all time scoring record on a night when you score five goals, but that's just what Neymar does!

Neymar did not manage to get on the scoresheet himself until three minutes before half time, but his opening goal was well worth the wait as he floated a free kick over the wall and into the top corner from 25 yards, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.

Neymar scored his final goal of the match in the 83rd minute on a penalty kick.

"(Cavani) is our goalscorer and he's improved a lot here.

It is not the first time Cavani has clashed with Neymar over the taking of a penalty. The Brazilian was at hit again in the 73rd, slaloming past six Dijon players before finding the back of the net with a powerful shot from just inside the box.

Mbappe got amongst the goals when he struck in the 77th minute to give PSG a 7-0 lead before Neymar completed the rout by netting his fourth goal to end the game 8-0.

Dijon, who are 11th in the table, are without a win in their past four games.

Fittingly it was Neymar who capped off the scoring from the penalty spot after Cedric Yambere had been penalised for a foul inside the area, with the PSG forward sending the keeper the wrong way for his fourth of the evening and 15th Ligue 1 goal of the season.

Since joining PSG, Neymar has scored 24 goals and assisted a further 16 strikes in 23 games.
