FRIDAY: Cloudy with rain. "Most of the area will receive 0.3" to 0.70" of rain on Friday. We could still see some adjustments on the timing of this switch to snow if cold air moves in more aggressively, so this is something we have to watch.

Ice will accumulate on bridges and overpasses first, then secondary street, and finally major thoroughfares such as I-40 and I-24.

Snow clears out from west to east after 5 p.m.

Penfield, New York has already seen 16 inches of snow accumulation, as of Saturday morning.

Scattered snow will continue to fall through Friday afternoon and should exit our eastern counties that evening.

Total sleet and snow accumulations of up to 1 inch and ice accumulations under a tenth of an inch are expected.

New York City and numerous other main metro areas in the Northeast will remain slightly above freezing, leaving most people in the cities wet and dodging the slosh in the gutters. But as temperatures dropped below freezing and streets covered with snow and ice, there were people downtown who still had to work and find their way home in the hazardous conditions.

Those who live in the Midwest part of the US must get ready for some freezing days to come as Winter Storm Hunter continues to pound its way to the Dakotas, Nebraska, parts of Iowa, Minnesota, and other cities in the Northeast.

The rain and warm temperatures could cause some flooding.

As this system moves over the area, be prepared for hard travel conditions and slick roads, especially into Friday morning! Sleet should mix in by 4-5 PM before the changeover to snow after 8 PM.
