Copa del Rey: Barcelona thrash Celta Vigo to reach quarter-finals

Celta visited Catalonia last month in the league, with the game ending 2-2, and another draw can be backed at 27/4 (7.75).

Lionel Messi scored twice in the space of three minutes to help Barcelona to a 5-0 win over Celta Vigo on Thursday as the holders advanced to the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey.

Barca took the lead after 13 minutes as Jordi Alba raided down the flank and fired a low cross into the box, where Lionel Messi was on hand to slot home.

Ernesto Valverde recalled his big guns for the second leg as Messi, Suárez, and Iniesta were named in the starting 11.

Suarez pounced on an ill-advised, deflected back pass, finishing easily in the 31st minute to make it 4-0 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate.

Messi helped pad Barcelona's advantage even more before the half-hour mark, returning the favor to Jordi Alba with an inch-perfect diagonal ball, which the sliding left back rifled home to make it 3-0 on the night, 4-1 on aggregate. It often looks like Messi is playing a different game to his contemporaries and after getting his name on the scoresheet twice he set up Barcelona's third goal.

Wissam Ben Yedder, after 31 minutes, and Joaquin Correa in the 54th minute, were on target for Vincenzo Montella's team.

The main entertainment in the second half came from Dembele late on, who produced some wonderful pieces of skill to get the supporters on their feet.

David Barral slammed a shot against the post and Moha then spurned a one on one as Cadiz attacked and they were made to pay before half time.

The draw for the quarter finals takes place on Friday and we'll have all the info here at La Liga News UK.
