Bill Gates would most likely still have an edge on Bezos in terms of total wealth if he had not made significant charitable donations over the previous decade.

According to Bloomberg's billionaire tracker, Amazon's net worth reached $105.1 billion on Monday courtesy of a 6.6 percent rise in Amazon.com shares.

Bezos topped $100 billion in net worth in November. The company's shares are up 7 per cent in 2018, after soaring 56 per cent in 2017.
