In the Q4 of past year, telecom operator Airtel announced two new tariff plans priced at ₹448 and ₹509 respectively for its prepaid customers which offered benefits like free voice calls and 1 GB data per day. The Mukesh Ambani-owned company has reduced rates by Rs 50 across its all 1GB plans.

The company's flagship Rs 399 plan will now provide 20% additional data with a validity of two additional weeks, increasing the current validity from 70 to 84 days.

The telecom provider also updated its Rs709 plan, which now will provide 3.5GB 4G data per day. In total, the plan offers 98GB total data with a validity of 28 days.

Airtel's Rs 509 plan was initially launched with a validity of 84 days and it offers 1GB data per day.

If we look at prepaid plans in price-range of Rs 450 to Rs 500, rivals Vodafone and Airtel have several offers as well.

Rs 499 plan: The new price of this plan is Rs 449 and it offers 91GB data for 91 days. With the change, users now get 1GB 4G data per day for 82 days, which brings the total to 82GB.

The plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls, however, there is a daily limit of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes for the week.

Airtel has made a decision to also provide unlimited calling facility to its users but with "terms and conditions"; voice calls limited to 300 minutes per day and 1200 minutes per week. FUP or daily data limit is 1GB. These include the Rs 198 scheme which has increased its data promise from 28GB to 42GB, a 14GB boost. It will now compete against Airtel's Rs 509 plan which also offers same amount of data.

Given that Airtel's revised plans are slightly costlier than what Jio offers now, it makes no sense for users to switch networks.

If the users recharge with Rs 498 recharge pack, they will get 136 GB of data, as compared to 91 GB data provided earlier.
