The biggest Mega Millions jackpot was in 2012, when three winners split $656 million.

The Pasco ticket matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball from Friday nights drawing. The Powerball jackpot also surged, sitting at $550 million, with a $348 million cash option, after no victor Wednesday.

A single ticket in Florida won the $450 million jackpot.

There were also eight Match 5 winners from across the country, with California, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Virginia all holding a single victor, while Oklahoma and Texas featured two apiece for a prize of $1 million.

The odds that you'll win the $450 million jackpot in Friday's Mega Millions drawing are really, really bad.

Lottery officials also increased the jackpot of Powerball, the other national lottery game, to $570 million.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 302.5 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot now resets to its starting amount of $40 million ($25 million cash) for the next draw on January 9.

Kilbane says there were about $3 million in Mega Millions sales just for the one drawing earlier this week and about $4.5 million for the Powerball.
