I'm not new to politics.

Addressing a large hall packed with his fans on Tuesday, Rajinikanth said, "In next assembly elections I will form a party and will contest all constituencies in Tamil Nadu".

The superstar had for the 1st time fixed a date to spell out his plans on entering the political arena. "Everyone keeps saying that I'm procrastinating needlessly".

Sporting a grey beard and a spectacle, the matinee idol of Tamil cine world for the last four decades spoke in his inimitable simple Tamil. Bravery is not enough to win the war. "Has it come now?". He would have succeeded in politics if he had entered around 20 years ago.

Hence, he said, "I will make my stand on joining politics known on December 31". On 31st December all Rajinikanth fans will possibly get another reason to celebrate as he is set to announce if he'll enter politics or not.

Stressing on the importance of discipline and positive energy, he advocated meditation and asked his fans not to give room for negative thoughts as it would have an adverse impact on their well-being. He had first given a hint of making a political entry in August this year. Recently, the other big actor, Kamal Haasaan, had made his anticipated debut.

There has been opposition to actors coming to politics notably from pro-Tamil, ultra Dravidian outfits.

Tamil people are allegedly infamous for their extreme fanism, they don't think twice to fall at the feet or even procrastinate before their revered personalities, be it politicians or film stars. However, he had said that there is "no urgency to start working on the field".
