Prices are still rising, and among the increases is the cost of Canton school lunches, which are going up due to food and fuel increases.  Lunches in the elementary schools will jump from $1.75 to $2.00; and at the middle school and high school, they will climb from $2.00 to $2.25.

The number of foreclosures that has plagued the Massachusetts real estate market slowed down a bit in June, but industry experts say it’s still too soon to know if the worst of the state’s foreclosure disaster is in the past.

On the other hand, for the fifth time we’re pleased to see there will be another “tax holiday” on the weekend of August 16-17 when we won’t have to pay the 5 percent sales tax on most purchases under $2,500; but we’ll still have to pay the tax on purchases of boats, cars, meats, and tobacco products as well as telecommunication services and gas, steam and electric utilities.

MAC has learned how cell phone users can save some money.  Cell phone companies generally charge $1.00 to $1.75 or more for all 411 information calls. So when you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial (800) free-411 or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. MAC recommends that you program it into your cell phone now.
